Finland researchers received recently an important financial support to continue and develop at a wider scale the production of a "mycoprotein" resultant from fungi cultivation, using food industry waste as raw material.
This is considered a first step and then the use of other industrial residues may be taken into account to permit this technique to grow to more important volumes.
A first goal is to be able to supply this protein for the feed industry, but direct human consumption is also considered for a later stage.
It would be interesting to see the presentations and protein content that this product would have for the market.
