IMARPE begun the marine investigation for the second anchovy fishing season

The scientific marine investigation (in charge of IMARPE), has officially started on week 34  with the first phase: the count of anchovy eggs and larvae. This initial phase provides an estimate of the number of anchovy parents, and  naturally evaluates if the spawning has been fair enough for the sound development of the fish population.

Supported by a few modern fishing vessels from the private sector, there is a  second phase of the research, that would begin in the first week of September. This stage involves the acoustic evaluation for the  assessment of anchovy  biomass, population structure, and geographical distribution.

Upon completion of these phases—expected by mid-October—the team will deliver detailed data and a recommended fishing program and quota for the second campaign of the current year. For North-Central regions.
