Almost two weeks after the start of the new anchovy fishing season in the North-Central zone of the country, the results are encouraging. Let us recall that, for this season, the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) was set at 3 million tons.
To date (05/05/2025), an advance of 663,416 tons of anchovy has been reached, which represents 22.11% of the total quota. Despite some temporary interruptions due to adverse sea conditions (mini-bans for juveniles protection and periods of rough sea), fishing results have been positive, but percentage of high qualities could be smaller than usual, as small fish is found in all the landings.
In the last seven days, a daily average of more than 55,000 tons has been fished, confirming the good performance of the fleet.
