Operational End of the 2025-II Anchoveta Season in Peru (North–Central)
The 2025-II anchoveta season in Peru’s North–Central region has already concluded from an operational standpoint, due to the lack of sustained fishing activity and daily landing volumes that are insufficient to support an economically viable industrial operation. It was an unusual campaign from the outset: an initial provisional quota of 500,000 MT caused significant concern across the sector, and a few days later the TAC (Total Allowable Catch) of 1,630,000 MT was confirmed, easing industry expectations.

To date, cumulative landings have reached 1,596,013 MT, equivalent to 97.9% of the TAC. In the final stage, activity weakened to the point where volumes no longer justified starting up and operating fishmeal plants, especially given the large scale of Peru’s factories.

A key feature of this season was its geographic concentration in the north: approximately 72.4% of the catch came from northern Peru and 27.6% from the central area. Landings will continue to be monitored, but the operational closure of the season appears practically confirmed.
