Sea Surface Temperature of the Peruvian Coast

Sea Surface Temperature  (SST) along the Peruvian Coast

Current sea surface temperatures indicate a cooler strip along the Peruvian coastline, clearly related to the upwellings, that have been active during the last months. These negative anomalies range between -0.5 to -1° C .   In contrast, warmer than average waters are evident further  West, particularly at the far southern position, but having the highest anomalies waters (at or over +1.5° C ) a distance of approx. 200-250 miles from the shore of the South and Central regions.
