Sea Surface Temperature and its anomalies in Peru

In the southern region of Peru there is a combination of SST anomalies. Ports like Matarani are presenting negative anomalies, while Pisco is presenting soft anomalies.

The Central and Northern regions are showing also a combination of soft anomalies but always ending in a neutral average. For the Central Equatorial Pacific, the warm waters in the West continued growing but not extending to the East, they continue confined to the West side, while the cold waters at the same time are reducing their presence and the intensity. NOAA (with NASA’s as the most audacious model indicating that negative anomalies could reach -1.5° C by Dec-March period) however maintains the probabilities for La Niña to come during Dec-Jan over 70%.
