Sea Surface Temperature and its anomalies in Peru

Sea Surface Temperature and its anomalies in Peru

This time NOAA (U.S. team of scientists) finally declared that La Niña event fulfilled the required conditions to be named as such. So, we are under La Niña rule now.  They also informed that both region’s average of anomalies got downwards: to -0.4°C for our region (ENSO1+2), and to – 0.9°C for ENSO 3.4, the Central Pacific.  NOAA experts reduced however the period that this cold ENSO event may last, to just a few months…

SST in Peru reduced the anomalies this week and there is again a combination of small anomalies (positive and negative) what is more normal, though negative ones are more abundant. The sea further West is also showing very small anomalies of SST, and is considered Neutral.
