Second anchovy fishing season progress for the N-C regions of Peru

Fishing continues fair, with a daily average catch for the past seven days reaching approximately 32,000 metric tons of anchovy. This slow rhythm has not been caused by rough sea or another obstacle. It could be that that juveniles count is growing in some places (like Pisco and Callao), triggering several mini-bans; whereas others ports like Chicama- Chimbote are having good size fish, and naturally, better oil yields that reached peaks of 4%. The rest of the country is close or over 2%, but Pisco still around 1.5-1.8% oil.

The quota for this season was set at 2,510,000 tons, with fishing operations started on November 1st, 2024. Up to date, 1’141,020 MT anchovy have been extracted, meaning 45.46% of the granted quota.
