Second anchoveta fishing season ends for Peru's N-C regions

      Peruvian authorities published the resolution closing the current campaign, due to the intensification of the sexual maturity and spawning, as reproductive indicators of anchovy.

      Fishing companies consider this season as successful, after doing an efficient use of the quota (96.5%) in a second program of the year; that was not seen since year 2020.  

      The quota for this season was set at 2,510,000 tons, where fishing operations began on November 1, 2024 and ended at 00:00 hours on January 23, 2025. A total of 2'425,580 MT of anchoveta were extracted, which represents 96.5% of the quota granted.
